Research into individual services and entire service sectors has achieved central importance both nationally and internationally. The need for research is still great, however, as the concepts and theories that have been developed so far

At the Institute for Business Administration at the University of Rostock, the focus in research and teaching has been on "Service Management and Service Markets" since 2005. The master's degree in service management was introduced as early as the 2009/10 winter semester and is one of the most popular master's degree programs at the University of Rostock. In addition, the Rostock Service Conference has been held every two years since 2008 to promote scientific exchange on the service issue. The latest results of service research will be presented at this conference; But work-in-progress presentations by young scientists are also an integral part of the conference.
